Championship
Champion: Bella Mafia Quackafella Records
#3 How Much Jam 30 vs. #5 Bella Mafia 52
Even though the seeding had Jam higher then Bella Mafia, Mafia beat Jam by 2 earlier in the season without star Chad Sawyer. So Bella truly the best team coming into this game. This Match-up consisted of two very different teams: Bella Mafia, two-time Golden Show champions, seeking a threepeat, and How Much Jam, a team that before this season had never won a playoff game. Some would call this a David vs Goliath, but we call it The Championship Game. It started off slow, as normal playoff games do, with both teams trying to get a feel for the other. The score was 19-13 at the end of the first half, in favor of Bella Mafia. Jam did not have their heads down, this was a flashback to one hour before where they were down 8-4 at the end of the first half in the Semi-final game. Hoping to get some momentum starting the second half, the exact opposite happened. Bella Mafia starting the half making a boat load of shots from behind the arc. Mafia was stepping on the gas and had it in cruise control after that. With about three minutes left reality hit Jam in the face, knowing that the race for the Golden Shoe was over, having no chance to come back. Jam basically stopped playing, but Mafia continued to score some more points, so the game was closer then the score, but not really that close. Congrats to Bella Mafia on a spectacular season and congrats on the threepeat, something that has not been done a lot since Night League started about 15 years ago. What a year it was for them, good luck to every team in the off-season, and we are all anxious for next year.
#8 No Sympathy 11 vs. #5 Bella Mafia 34
Bella Mafia ran away with this final four match. No Sympathy seemed decently confident during school today, but that did not carry over into the game as they were run out of the gym. Bella cam into this game with their eye on the shoe, and coasted to the Championship. Both teams playing man to man, but no Sympathy did not match up very well. Bella Mafia is too deep of a team, with too much skill, they can easily take out one or two of your best players, and when you have around 2 good players Bella Mafia will just take control of the game. On offense Bella Mafia could not be played well man to man against No Sympathy for that same reason, they are way to big for No Sympathy to handle. A great season by No Sympathy with a 7 game win streak before this lose, they were one of the hottest teams in the league, but not Golden Shoe caliber.
#3 How Much Jam 37 vs. #2 Bear Cage 34 2OT
This was the Most exciting game of the year for either team. Both teams came into this one knowing that they would have their hands full. Bear Cage playing lock down man D against the 2-3 Zone of Jam. A lot scoring first half, with the score 4-8 in favor of Bear Game, it ended up being a normal scoring game after 2 overtimes. Bear Cage with 2 three pointers in the last minute of regulation and then a buzzer beater by Michael Clark in the first Overtime to tie it up. As the second overtime began many people started to fill the gym as this instant classic was unfolding. Henry Falter led his team, Jam, to the victory in the second over time hitting a crucial jumper followed by a three pointer. Then Peter McNitt also made some very crucial free throws.
